Nigerians Celebrate in Glasgow as Team Nigeria Shines at Commonwealth Games


Scenes of jubilation erupted in Glasgow, Scotland, as Nigerian athletes and supporters celebrated another successful outing by Team Nigeria at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Waving Nigerian flags and singing patriotic songs, supporters gathered to celebrate after Team Nigeria continued its impressive medal-winning campaign, reinforcing the country's position among the top-performing nations at the Games.

Nigeria's athletes have excelled in para powerlifting, weightlifting, and athletics, winning multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals. Standout performances include Goodness Nwachukwu, who set a world record, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, who claimed a historic shot put gold, and Tobi Amusan, who added a bronze medal to Nigeria's tally.

Earlier in the Games, Nigerian weightlifters and para powerlifters also delivered dominant performances, helping the country climb the medal standings and emerge as one of Africa's strongest-performing teams.

With more events still to come, Team Nigeria remains in contention for additional medals as athletes continue to compete across several disciplines.
